In 2014 September, Microsoft announced a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition later being completed 8 weeks.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that does not have any specific goals for the participant to accomplish, allowing players a great amount of independence in choosing how to learn the gameHowever, there can be an success system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the choice to experiment with in third person function. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and placing blocks. The game world comprises rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move openly around the world, objects can only be put at fixed locations on the grid. Players can get these materials place and blocks them in other places, allowing for various constructions thus.At the start of the game, the ball player is positioned on the surface of any procedurally produced and nearly infinite game world. The globe is divided into biomes which range from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk across the terrain comprising plains, mountains, forests, caves, and different water bodies. The in-game time system practices a night and day cycle, with one full cycle sustained 20 real-time minutes. Throughout the course of the overall game, players come across various non-player people known as mobs, including pets, villagers and hostile animals. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for crafting and food materials, and spawn in the day time. In comparison, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique creatures have been mentioned by reviewers, including the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks up on the participant; and the Enderman, a creature with the ability to teleport and grab blocks.
