Minecraft is a sandbox video game formerly created by Swedish game creator Markus "Notch" Persson, and developed and printed by Mojang later. The creative and building areas of Minecraft enable players to develop constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally made world. Other activities in the game include exploration, source of information gathering, crafting, and fight. Multiple gameplay methods are available, including survival function where in fact the player must acquire resources to develop the world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to make with and the ability to fly, an excitement setting where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator mode where players can soar around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or kill any. The Computer version of the game is noted because of its modding scene, where a dedicated community creates new gameplay mechanics, items, and belongings for the overall game.Minecraft received reward from critics upon release, and acquired numerous accolades and honours. As of 2016 June, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, with more than 40 million unique players each full month, making it the best-selling PC game as of yet and the next best-selling video game of all time, only behind the many releases of Tetris. In September 2014, Microsoft announced a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the participant to perform, allowing players plenty of liberty in choosing how to experiment with the gameHowever, there can be an accomplishment system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the choice to learn in third person mode. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and putting blocks. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move across the world freely, objects can only be positioned at fixed locations on the grid. Players can get these material place and blocks them in other places, thus allowing for various constructions. In the beginning of the game, the player is positioned on the top of a procedurally produced and virtually infinite game world. The global world is split into biomes ranging from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk across the terrain comprising plains, mountains, forests, caves, and different water bodies. The in-game time system practices a complete night and day routine, with one full pattern lasting 20 real-time minutes. Through the entire course of the overall game, players face various non-player heroes known as mobs, including pets, villagers and hostile animals. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for crafting and food materials, and spawn in the day time. In comparison, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique animals have been observed by reviewers, such as the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks through to the player; and the Enderman, a creature having the ability to teleport and pick up blocks.
