Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish game custom Markus "Notch" Persson, and later developed and shared by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to construct constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally produced world. Alternative activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and fight. Multiple gameplay methods are available, including survival mode where the player must acquire resources to generate the global world and keep maintaining health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, an adventure method where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator method where players can take flight around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or destroy any. The Personal computer version of the overall game is noted because of its modding scene, in which a dedicated community creates new gameplay technicians, items, and possessions for the overall game.Minecraft received praise from critics after release, and acquired numerous prizes and accolades. As of 2016 June, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, with an increase of than 40 million unique players each full month, making it the best-selling PC game to date and the second best-selling video game of all time, only behind the various releases of Tetris. In 2014 September, Microsoft announced a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later.
Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the participant to accomplish, allowing players a great amount of flexibility in choosing how to experience the gameHowever, there is an accomplishment system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to experience in third person method. The core gameplay revolves around putting and breaking blocks. The overall game world comprises rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move readily around the world, objects can only just be located at predetermined locations on the grid.
