Minecraft is a sandbox video game formerly created by Swedish game artist Markus "Notch" Persson, and later developed and printed by Mojang. The creative and building areas of Minecraft permit players to generate constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the player to perform, allowing players a great amount of flexibility in choosing how to experiment with the gameHowever, there is an achievement system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to experience in third person method. The core gameplay revolves around positioning and breaking blocks. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a fixed grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move around the world freely, objects can only be placed at predetermined locations on the grid. The globe is divided into biomes ranging from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk over the terrain consisting of plains, mountains, forests, caves, and different water bodies. The in-game time system practices a full day and night pattern, with one full circuit lasting 20 real-time minutes. Through the entire course of the overall game, players face various non-player personas known as mobs, including animals, villagers and hostile creatures. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for crafting and food materials, and spawn in the day time. By contrast, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique animals have been mentioned by reviewers, including the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks through to the participant; and the Enderman, a creature having the ability to teleport and grab blocks.
