Minecraft is a sandbox gaming at first created by Swedish game designer Markus "Notch" Persson, and developed and posted by Mojang later. The creative and building areas of Minecraft permit players to make constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally produced world. Alternative activities in the game include exploration, source gathering, crafting, and battle. Multiple gameplay settings are available, including survival function where the player must acquire resources to build the world and keep maintaining health, a creative method where players have unlimited resources to make with and the capability to fly, an excitement method where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator mode where players can fly around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or damage any. The PC version of the overall game is noted for its modding scene, in which a dedicated community creates new gameplay mechanics, items, and resources for the game.Minecraft received reward from critics upon release, and earned numerous accolades and prizes. As of June 2016, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, with an increase of than 40 million unique players each full month, rendering it the best-selling PC game up to now and the next best-selling gaming ever, only behind the many releases of Tetris. In 2014 September, Microsoft announced a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later.
Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that does not have any specific goals for the player to perform, allowing players a great amount of liberty in choosing how to learn the gameHowever, there is an success system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to try out in third person method. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and placing blocks. The game world comprises rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a fixed grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move across the world freely, objects can only be positioned at permanent locations on the grid. Some Minecraft-unique creatures have been mentioned by reviewers, such as the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks through to the player; and the Enderman, a creature having the ability to teleport and pick up blocks.
